Costume Designer
SONU MISHRA (costume designer) earned two consecutive Emmy nominations in 2017-18 — for Outstanding Period Costumes on the Ron Howard/Brian Grazer productions of “Genius: Einstein,” and Outstanding Period/Fantasy Costumes for a Series/Limited Series/Movie for “Genius: Picasso.” The Mumbai native graduated from Sophia College with a degree in fashion design. She moved to New York as a 19-year-old in 1989 to work in the wardrobe department at the Roundabout Theatre Company on Broadway and at Odds Costume Rentals.
She next relocated to Rome, where she has emerged as a successful costume designer for major television and movie productions, both Italian and international. Her early credits in Rome include set costumer and wardrobe supervisor on such titles as, Martin Scorsese’s “The Gangs of New York,” Barry Levinson’s “Envy,” Jon Amiel’s “The Core” and “Luther.”
She recently designed the wardrobe for Apple tv’s Shining Girls, AMC’s fantasy miniseries, “NOS4A2,” and several episodes of NBC’s “Crossing Lines” and FOX’s “Prison Break.”
Feature film credits include Renny Harlin’s “The Legend of Hercules,” Paul Haggis’ “Third Person,” Fanny Ardant’s short film, “Chimeres Absentes,” Sergio Castellito’s “Twice Born,” Anton Corbjin’s Italian-set thriller “The American” with George Clooney (associate designer), ”PA-RA-DA earned a Venice Film Festival Special Mention. And, “Anche Libero Va Bene” was a Cannes C.I.C.A.E. Award winner.
