Director of Photography
Born in 1984. Juan is a Colombian cinematographer based out of Berlin, and available worldwide. His films have premiered and been awarded at the most prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, San Sebastian and Rotterdam. He approaches all his projects with the same passion and attention to narrative detail. In his eyes, there is no such thing as a difference between fiction and documentary.
Frequent collaborations with directors Karim Aïnouz, Simon Mesa Soto and Daniel Espinosa.
Winner of the Sven Nyqvist Cinematography Award for Madame Luna, the Colombian film academy award for Amparo. and the German Cinematography Award for Valley of Souls, among other accolades. He graduated the Film University in Babelsberg in 2011 and is an active member of the Colombian and the German society of cinematographers. He is also fluent in Spanish, English, German, Italian and Portuguese.
