Jessica Carter

Makeup Department Head

Jessica Carter is a Canadian Screen Award-winning Makeup Artist and a 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women honoree with over twenty-five years ofexperience in the entertainment industry. In 2022, she received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Achievement in Makeup. Her extensive credits include Degrassi: The Next Generation, How to Die Alone, Cross(Season 2), and many more.

Jessica is passionate about mentorship and knowledge-sharing. She serves as a Programming Consultant and Lead Mentor for the CFC Makeup Program at the Canadian Film Centre, where she supports the professional growth of emerging artists. She is also a mentor and coach for the Oya Career Leap Program, guiding underrepresented talent as they enter and navigate the industry. In addition, Jessica contributes her expertise as a member of the IATSE 873 Makeup Committee, advocating for makeup artists and helping to shape best practices in the field.

Beyond Canada, Jessica is the founder of Oshun Woman, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering racialized people by teaching beauty industry skills on a global scale. She also develops and hosts educational programs for emerging producers and background performers, providing them with the tools to effectively collaborate with the makeup department. Through her artistry, leadership, and mentorship, she continues to inspire and uplift the next generation of makeup professionals around the world.
