Costume Designer
Esther Marquis is a Costume Designer for television, film, theater, museum installations and the Aerospace Industry. Her most recent work can be seen on the highly acclaimed Apple TV+ series, For All Mankind, Seasons 3 and 4, along with the soon to be released Season 5. As a result of her work on the series, Esther embarked on two challenging projects with aerospace industry leader, Axiom Space. Designing a custom Spacesuit cover layer for the global media release of NASA and Axiom’s 21st century spacesuit, followed up with the design and build of Axiom Mission-3 Flight Suits, worn by the European commercial astronauts on a mission to the International Space Station. Prior to that Esther’s designs have graced the stages of numerous American Theater venues, most notably the Alley Theatre’s Tony award winning season of 1996-1997. Esther’s historical expertise complemented the exacting textile requirements necessary for the culturally significant UNESCO World Heritage Site; beautifully restored 18th Century Atturaif Museum District in Saudi Arabia. The brief involved designing interiors with hand loomed textiles, historical clothing with extensive embroidered details and 2 Arabian Horse saddles and riding equipment. In addition to her design work, Esther held a teaching position in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas, instructing a graduate course in Costume Design and overseeing student productions. Growing up in Perth, Western Australia to Indian and English immigrants provided a multi cultural upbringing and the launch of her fine arts education. Esther is a graduate of Boston University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Summa Cum Laude and a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design and Production.
