Ernesto Pardo

Ernesto Pardo AMC, USC is a Uruguayan-born cinematographer based in Mexico.

He finds his passion in the cinematic construction of documentary stories, both in direct cinema and documentary cinema with narratives closer to fiction.

In his foray into fiction cinema, he seeks projects that dare to play with the boundaries of documentary and narrative, with a focus on constructing sensitive images and atmospheres that help sustain the dramaturgy of the stories.

He holds a degree in directing and documentary filmmaking from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica de la CDMX.

He has been honoured with two Golden Frogs at the Camerimage festival and two Arieles from the Mexican Film Academy for his outstanding cinematography work on Tempestad and El Eco. He received a nomination at the ASC Spotlight Awards for Tempestad.

He is a member of the Film Academies of Mexico and the United States, as well as the Uruguayan Society of Cinematography and the Mexican Association of Cinematography.

He has worked on films that have premiered and/or won awards at renowned festivals such as the Berlinale, IDFA, Sundance, Mar del Plata, Morelia, San Sebastián, Visions du Reel and Havana, to name a few.
