Physical Production

Barbara Perez-Solero

Production Designer

I was raised in a family environment intimately connected with design, art, and advertising, as my father and grandfather were significant Creative Directors and Designers. Since childhood, I had an early passion for the artistic world around me.

My journey through the Faculty of Fine Arts and my profound love for the visual world and its narrative ultimately found expression in the language of cinema and the development of my career in the film industry as a Production Designer, primarily in international projects. These years will forever form a solid foundation where Art in all its facets is present in all current and future designs, and in each project.

Thanks to my French education and proficiency in English, I initially developed my career in advertising and later in the film industry, mainly on an international scale. My adventurous spirit and love for storytelling also contribute significantly.

Over my 32 years of experience, I have collaborated with directors such as Terry Gilliam, Ridley Scott, John Irving , James Mangold, Sally Potter, Tarsem Sing, or Christopher Hampton. I have also worked with numerous advertising directors worldwide. I have been fortunate to travel and shoot in many countries, sharing diverse ways of working.

Over the last years my work also includes the design of TV shows as Still Star Crossed, Emerald City,  Snatch,  Jack Ryan,  In From the Cold , Sexy Beast and Warrior Nun (Season I and II)

I am a Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Vice President and founding member of AEDAA (Spanish Association of Audiovisual Art Direction).

I have taught classes at the Master of Audiovisual Communication at Carlos III University, Fine Arts University of San Fernando, University Europea, Carlos III and the Film School of the Community of Madrid (ECAM).

Among my awards, there is a Goya nomination for “Los Borgia,” as well as various international awards such as the Cannes Bronze Lyon for Best Art Direction in Sony Cybershot, the San Sebastian Festival Gold Awards for “Fox House,” and the VDW Award for Best Production Design for “Vodafone Life.”
