Costume Designer
Catalina Giangrandi has been deeply involved in costume design for over 15 years. Based in Bogotá, Colombia, she began her career designing costumes for commercials and music videos, and has since expanded her work to include TV shows and feature films. Her career has been shaped by diverse experiences living in various cities around the world. Growing up in an artistic family and frequently exposed to theater and art galleries, Catalina developed a passion for aesthetics, cultural diversity, and the art of creating immersive worlds.
Her academic background in anthropology, which includes extensive time living among indigenous communities in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, with the Bedouins in the atlas mountain of Morocco or the weavers of Sardinia or Guatemala combined with her profound love and respect for textiles and artifacts, enriches her design approach. This unique combination enables her to create costumes that are culturally informed, historically accurate, and visually striking. From her fascination with collecting and studying material culture to designing characters inspired by diverse influences-such as territories, art, fashion, films, books, and music-Catalina excels at juxtaposing colors, patterns, and textures with precision and creativity.
