Safowa Bright Bitzelberger

Safowa Bright Bitzelberger is a TV and Film Costume Designer. Most recently, she earned an Emmy nomination for her work designing Netflix’s Griselda, starring Sofia Vergara.

Safowa Bright Bitzelberger is a multidisciplinary creative who has worn several hats in the Industry as a Costume Designer, Wardrobe Stylist and Costume Supervisor. She developed her passion for design early on she discovered her affinity for illustration, painting & creating costumes.

Her creative eye drew her to Fashion Design, where she began her career in the LA Apparel Industry designing for several Women’s Contemporary and Junior Apparel manufacturers. Her passion for the unique and avant garde landed her in the LA Editorial world and Music Industry as a Wardrobe Stylist where she was able to refine her creative aesthetic.

Safowa focused her energy on honing her skills in the world of Television, as a Shopper, then Key Costumer and she eventually landed in Costume Supervision, where she has focused and mastered her craft in Costume Supervision for the last 10 years. Safowa looks forward to applying the accumulated knowledge she has gleaned from her 20+ years in the Industry as a Costume Supervisor, and as she currently pivots and directs her creative eye towards Costume Design.

Beyond her work on Griselda, Safowa also worked on many acclaimed films, like Ava DuVernay’s Origin, and TV shows, including Ballers, starring Dwayne Johnson. She is also a member of the TV Academy, local 892, and local 705.

Safowa currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son.
