Derek Wimble is a DGA First Assistant Director in film and television with over two decades of experience. After growing up in Albany, New York, he moved to New York City in 1995 to earn a B.A. in Media Studies from Fordham University’s College at Lincoln Center (FCLC ’99).
He began his career in film as an office intern, worked as a production assistant on feature films such as Zoolander and The Royal Tenenbaums, and steadily rose through the ranks to become a trusted 1st AD. He joined the Directors Guild of America in 2006.
His recent credits include the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again and NBC’s Blindspot, along with a range of other film and television projects. Respected for his steady presence on set, he is known for keeping productions on schedule and fostering a collaborative, positive atmosphere for cast and crew through his mix of organizational expertise and team-focused leadership.
